In a perfect world, there would be apps for everything: Babysitting apps that would entertain your children (no, wait, that app’s called Dora the Explorer on Tivo!); driving apps that would annoy your husband by telling him not to tailgate (but what would be the fun of that, really — it’s better when that kind of thing comes from your own mouth); health-related apps that would tell you when immunizations are due for your children, and run reports on where you stand statistically in the world (for those of you keeping score). But there simply aren’t.
So for all the developers out there who are following this site, here’s a list of our requests for apps. Readers, please feel free to submit your own, whether serious or seriously silly.
What app do you dream of? (SA)

Here’s one: Since multiple reports are that the Apple “Mobile Me” function isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and I’m pretty “old skool” in terms of contact management, I’d like an app that provides a simple way to DIRECTLY synchronize my iPhone with my old Palm One desktop software (I don’t have a Palm pilot, I just use their software because it’s simple). Does anyone know of an app in development that will do this, in a really simple way, so that everytime I charge my iPhone from my laptop, the two will Sync up contact updates, in the same was it syncs with iTunes? As a small business user of the iPhone, this would be a huge plus, and something I’d be willing to pay for.
Also, while we’re on the topic, there don’t seem to be too many biz apps out yet for smaller businesses (several out there for bigger companies). This area seems underdeveloped.

Another thought: I’d love to see a reliable SKYPE app on the iPhone. Think of the convenience of using true VOIP to call friends all over the world using only data, not voice minutes.

And another: I’d like to see some kind of PIXAR app. If there were some sort of funny game involving Buzz Lightyear, Woody the cowboy, and maybe Jesse and the prospector – nothing fancy, just something where they try to escape from Zurg or somesuch — it would be an amazing hit for kids using their parents’ iPhones. (And I think I’d never get mine back.)
